Typically, in the first lesson I will get a gauge of what the student knows and how much of the specification they need to review. Then, I will make a plan with each week us gradually relearning and learning topics as well as doing many practice questions to help improve the strength in that topic. Any areas that are already clearly a strength I will only brush on and instead will focus on helping my student to work on the weaker topics so that their mathematical skills become more well rounded. At the start of each lesson I will also ask the student if they need specific help on any questions that they may have gone through in the week as well as doing mini assessments every so often to ensure we are on track. In the end, I hope that whoever it is I am tutoring can gain the best mark possible in either GCSE Maths or simply in end of term and end of topic assessments. Finally, every week or every few weeks (depending on the students work load) I will ask them to complete a certain number of questions that I can go over in the next week to ensure that what I have taught is efficiently being understood by the student allowing me to adapt my teaching style to something that would suit the student better. If this style of tutoring does appeal to you feel free to drop me a message.

Many thanks,
Sam Hayes
