Hello. My name is Sam.
I believe that with the correct style and sufficient amount of effort basically anybody can understand the subject which I have had (and still have) such a desire to learn, maths.
During my third year at the University of Warwick were I achieved by BSc, I helped a small group of first year students with their assignments. I enjoyed this a lot as it gives me satisfaction knowing I have helped others.
I have also worked as a maths academic mentor for a school in Reading providing intervention lessons at GCSE level as well as one to ones for A-level students.
When it comes to how I teach I think that the following are important to me...
(1) Encourage learning by doing.
That is rather then bombarding students with information, go through a topic and ask the student a series of short questions to ensure that they understand all the details and that they feel involved rather than being passive. As well as an emphasis on going through example/past paper questions.
(2) Explaining concepts in a more casual/friendly way.
This means relating how a concept could be applied to the real-world, rather than just regurgitating what is given in textbooks/school. As well as coming up with quirky ways of memorizing information.
I am confident in teaching GCSE ,A-level maths and A-level further maths. I specialize in the pure and statistics options when it comes to A-level maths and further maths.
Thanks for reading and I hope to help you soon.
