Hi! I am an Oxford University biochemistry graduate and I am looking for students to tutor in science and maths. I have been a tutor for 10+ years, over which I have taught students aged 8 - 18 in science and maths. I also recently graduated from a master's course in global health, have previously worked as a teacher, and have been working in the science communications sector for several years now.
I like to tailor my lesson plans to each student and whatever they may be finding difficult. Consistently engaging with the syllabus and past papers is essential at GCSE and A Level, but in addition to this it is incredibly important to encourage students to think flexibly and thoroughly understand the fundamental concepts rather than simply memorising facts. It can also be useful to contextualise knowledge taught in school and occasionally explore its wider applications, as I find this leads to a deeper understanding of the subject.
Beyond academic support, I provide valuable insights into university applications and Oxbridge interviews. Having successfully navigated the application process myself, I offer personalised guidance to students aspiring for top-tier universities. Exploring wider applications of academic knowledge, I aim to instill a holistic understanding of subjects.
My tutoring philosophy extends beyond conventional teaching methods, aiming to cultivate curiosity and critical thinking. I believe in empowering students not only to excel academically but also to develop a genuine passion for learning.
