Hi-
I have a degree in English and Film from Edinburgh Napier and am currently working on a masters in Publishing, so studying English and its proper usage has been a main focus of my life for many years. I have worked on creative casual writing and more formal documents, so I am trained in many forms of tone and communication style. I have experience studying for higher, National 4 an 5's, and International Baccalaureate.
I have experience in writing dissertations, essays, school work, and formal documents.
In my teaching I like to approach from a very 'you' perspective, speaking to you about your goals and intentions with tutoring. I have a more casual approach while still making sure to meet the deadlines and goals set. I also enjoy bringing in creativity and an artistic approach rather than sitting at a table with strict repetitive outlines.
When teaching I would limit to about an hour to two hours a session in person.
When tutoring those where English is the second language, I prefer to go out and use English in the real world so that you can develop your day-to-day skills. I would also hope to bring in items of popular culture, such as books, films, and TV to both broaden vocabulary and to also help individuals with day to day conversation.
When tutoring those developing academic skills, I like to sit down and go through the work you are focusing on and then work from there.
