In the first lesson I like to start off with a mini test just to see the students strengths and weaknesses. Then I’d target the students weaknesses by going over the topic with them again. After I give them questions on that particular topic and give them a range of questions. I do this with all the topics that the student struggle with. Also I’d come back to the same topics a few lessons later to see if they still remember it and know how to do it. This way the topic will stick to the students and they won’t forget it. Also if a student ever needs help with a a question or a topic they struggle with I will explain it to them in a very simple way and make sure they understand the problem fully. Then I will give them more similar questions to make them practice so they are confident with the questions and the topic. When the students are confident with all the topics I tend to do exam practice with them so the students get an idea of the types of questions that come up on the exams. Also I give my students timed tests. This helps them with time management and gets them prepared for the real exam so they have plenty of time to do the paper and keep some spare time in their hands to come back and go over their work. This helps them to maybe correct any final errors and makes their work to the best of their abilities.
