Students ought to be encouraged to build upon their strengths and flesh out their weaknesses until there are less aspects in need of improvement and none that are a source of low confidence.
Previously I worked in an in-person tuition centre and found that the effects were most fruitful when their needs and challenges could be addressed individually; providing necessary contrast the school system students already attend where they adapt to little targeted help.
I will consider my job well done if an interest can be sparked and a student feels as though they have important critical skills to fall back on long after they have been tutored.
