After studying at the Freie Universität Berlin and completing my teacher's training in Berlin, I taught German and English at secondary schools (up to Abitur / A-Level) in the German capital. When moving to the UK in 2000, I became a teacher of English as an additional language (EAL) and worked cross-phase in both primary and secondary schools. Meeting children, young people and colleagues from all over the world has given me a lot of insight in different languages and cultures. Acting as an examiner for German and Italian GCSE and GCE speaking exams has made me aware of the challenges of these exams for young people. I am flexible and skilled to identify learners' individual needs and can tailor lessons accordingly. I'd be more than happy to develop your language skills within contexts you are interested in or you need to cover for your studies or professional development. I will explore the culture of the German speaking world with you as well as give you opportunities to practise all four skills associated with language learning: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I will keep an eye on your pronunciation and grammar without correcting you all the time. As a learner of languages myself, I know that there are many 'tricky' bits, but I also know that the only way to overcome them is practice. Why don't you book a trial session where we can discuss YOUR needs and goals for German? I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Bis bald!
