After an initial consultation to ascertain which areas the students need the most help in, I will draw up a study plan which correlates to the curriculum. We will cover the whole of the school year's curriculum hopefully.
At the start of each lesson, the student will have a chance to go over what they have learned in class that day/week, and whether they need any help with it. We can also have a look through their homework if this is something they are interested in. The rest of the lesson will focus on whatever lesson has been planned, and light homework will be set so that the lesson content can be revised.
During coursework and exam season, lessons will focus on any area the student is concerned with. We can go over past test papers and do practice exams. The lessons will be led by the student's needs, for example, if they are poor at grammar then I am happy to revise basic grammar with them.
As a one-to-one tutor, there is more freedom to ensure that all of a child's bases are covered before the student is asked to progress onto more difficult work, unlike in a classroom where the teachers have to follow a more strict lesson plan and are unable to offer help on an individual basis.
