First I start by understanding each students current knowledge level and their specific challenges in math. Making sure they feel comfortable and confident to ask questions reassuring them that no question is too silly or simple.
Each session we cover a topic from a list of topics that is covered in the current curriculum. I break down complex ideas and using relatable explains to simplify the abstract concepts. Teaching them not only how to solve the problem at hand but also teaching them problem solving techniques that they can apply independently. We'll work through examples together and gradually we'll move towards more challenging problems helping them gain confidence.
My teaching is not only about the right answer but also helping them build a solid foundation in the subject which will help the student feel capable and motivated to reach their full potential.
I listen carefully to their concerns, which shows them that I’m genuinely interested in their success and there to support them. By balancing patience with encouragement I help students move past their maths anxiety and start to see maths as something they can understand and even enjoy.
