My experience:
I am a hardworking, determined, nurturing, and adaptable individual who thrives under pressure, so am confident in my ability to creatively teach and aid your learning. This passion and drive for educating future generations has been strengthened by the experiences and knowledge gained during my time in higher education. I chose to undertake an undergraduate degree in Education Studies with advanced competency in German, graduating with first class honours. I specialised in Early Years for my PGCE due to the fact I believe a child’s formative years in education have a fundamental impact on their lives, both academically and personally. Recently, I gained employment as a Teaching Assistant in a Special Educational Needs secondary school; this has given me an insight into how adaptations to behaviour management, structure and teaching strategies can maximise each and every child’s potential.

Regardless of their background or ability, I believe everyone is entitled to receive an enjoyable and valuable education which supports their academic progress and social, emotional and mental wellbeing. I had the opportunity during my undergraduate degree and postgraduate certificate to be involved in classrooms through teaching and learning about the inner workings of schools and the pupils themselves, both in their academic work and personal interests; this rapport with pupils enabled me to successfully interweave their motivations with the curriculum which not only engaged and encouraged them to complete work to the best of their ability, but also demonstrates my commitment to raising educational achievement through child-centred methods. I have had variety of experiences across the EYFS and National Curriculum in multiple settings including nursery with children aged 0-3, reception, year 1, and years 7-13. In addition, I collaborated with EYFS and KS1 staff to devise and enact medium term plans and end of term assessments; mark work and set targets; and participate in staff meetings and CPD. These experiences supported me in developing a positive and restorative approach to behaviour management and provide children with many opportunities to collaborate in order to facilitate the exchange of knowledge in a safe environment; this supported less confident pupils in their academic and social wellbeing, and more confident pupils in their turn-taking skills. I consistently advocated pupils respecting themselves, other pupils, their guardians, and staff as I am of the opinion that mutual respect promotes good behaviour, increased self-confidence and a safe space for people to exist in, irrespective of their protected characteristics.

Format & Content of Lessons:
Depending on your goals, I will tailor our lessons to suit your needs. I use powerpoint presentations to provide a basic structure, but the content will be based entirely on the skills you want to master. We can use music, game-based activities, and worksheets to help you learn English in the most appropriate way for you.
