My lessons are built up of 10-minute long resource subjects to equal 30 minutes in total for each class. The focus would be on introducing new vocabulary, making sure the student fully understands the meaning of each new word For example, if the subject were to be Zoo Animals, I would ask the student to help me to make a list of all the zoo animals we could think of. The next step would be to set a spelling test of say 5-10 animal names. After this, there would be some verbal discussion about which animals we liked best. I like to use at least one game per lesson, such as one player has to describe a zoo animal (e.g. This animal has a very long neck and likes to eat leaves off tall trees). The others take turns to guess the answer - of course, it's a giraffe. Then, if there is plenty of time left, each person could draw and colour a picture of a giraffe and write a little story about their imagined giraffe.

My experience of teaching has taught me that student motivation is the most important aim to be installed by the tutor. If motivation to learn and do well if present within your student, then half the battle to succeed is already won. The second essential methodology is to make sure the classes are as enjoyable as possible. Sometimes making vocab. into a song works a treet. Toddlers who love the alphabet song, learn their letters much more easily and find it easy to renenber.
