Experienced social care/mental health worker 6+ years. Working directly with service users from over seeing assessment intakes on new clients in a counselling setting to looking after the daily physical and emotional needs of young people within the care system in Ireland. I am passionate about helping people who are suffering poverty, mental ill health, trauma and marginalised.
Through my experience I have developed a communications course that focus on:
***Learning about common mental health illnesses and how to communicate effectively with an at risk/suicidal person. This course is an online only consisting of 1:1 tutor via zoom.***
Course Aim:
The aim of this course is to learn about common mental health conditions, the symptoms and behaviours so we can adapt our approach in how we communicate with at risk individuals. So we can effectively reach be trusted by the most vulnerable in our society. Ensuring we as professionals/Volunteers treat/communicate with the at risk people we work for in a non judgemental and empathetic way. Which advocates for their rights while protecting the dignity of our clients. This is turn will help to reduce stigma surrounding such illnesses. And prevent further marginalisation of minority groups by society but also by us professionals. Reducing anxiety between worker client relationships and ensuring smoother running of services. While adhering to good practice guidelines and applying such guidelines to your work.
