I am currently a fifth year medical student at the University of Exeter.
I am of Italian origin, specifically from Puglia (South East of Italy). Having always spoken Italian, I am confident that I am able to pass on my knowledge to students, regardless of age or level.
I have always been very keen on languages, having grown up in 4 different countries. Over my lifetime, I have been fluent in 5 different languages, which goes to show that I have some successful methods in learning languages and succeeding with them. The last language I learnt was Spanish, in which I completed an A-Level and achieved the highest grade, an A*. The methods I used to learn Spanish are similar to what I intend to use in teaching Italian, both because the languages have similar grammatical structures and because learning a new language requires certain key steps in order to achieve fluency.
Furthermore, unrelated to languages, I have undertaken a module in teaching methods and educational theories during my fourth year of medical school, in which I learnt several different strategies to successfully teach a topic and to be able to review progress. I am confident that I can use this knowledge to teach in a way which is proven and backed by studies and theories.
Overall, I look forward to working with students of all ages and I look forward to being able to pass on the beautiful language of Italian. It truly is a language worth learning.
Ci vediamo presto!
