I believe in starting from the basics and building up. If the student has no specific areas to work on, we'll start at the beginning of the GCSE or AS specification, continuously going back to the specification to check we are ticking all the knowledge boxes. Before moving on to a new topic, I ensure the knowledge of the topic and the necessary exam technique we've just covered is up to excellent standards by doing exam questions (practice does make perfect!), however I as a student know sometimes things need more work or more practice and that is perfectly fine. I match the student's needs and ensure they are not trying to catch up with me. Instead, we will be on the same page, moving on together.
I've been a GCSE Biology tutor since October 2023 so I have experience teaching both year 10 and year 11 Biology, and having completed my AS averaging grade A's, will have no problem tutoring AS Biology too.
At the end of each chapter a chapter test will be conducted as there is no way to know what you need to work on if you don't test yourself, however these are not formal and I always encourage a relaxed attitude!
