Teaching is all about relationships and this is the single most important thing when looking for tuition. It is really important that the student is happy and comfortable because then they will work at the best. All lessons involve knowing the most important aspects of each topic, and equally important, understanding how they are assessed in exams. I have created a programme of study by analysing the last 7 years of past papers for each exam board, and making sure that the things that are always assessed, my students become fluent with.
Science is often over-complicated, which comes from a lack of understanding by the teacher. My lessons will identify the powerful knowledge needed to gain Grade 6+ in all 3 sciences. Grade 6 is the grade that all sixth form colleges accept to gain access to A- Levels and is the grade that enables all doors to remain open.
A typical lesson from myself involves the delivery of the really important information and a series of checks to make sure that the student has fully understood them. Once the really important knowledge is considered to be fully understood, we will look at a variety of ways they might be assessed. Each lesson finishes with an online form which is designed to be completed by the student after the lesson. The answers form this online form will allow me to judge how well the important knowledge is understood and then will allow me to re-teach the weaker aspects during the next lesson.
Hopefully we also get a bit of humour in the lessons, as this makes it all the more fun!
