From the second I could read; I would absorb myself in the pages of books. I was fascinated with fantasy worlds from the Mermaid Lagoon in Peter Pan, to the Yellow Brick Road in The Wizard of Oz. Magical worlds in literature and fairy tales enchanted me. I would spend hours upon hours in my local library, escaping to these worlds in the pages of my books. As I began to grow and learn in my education, English Grammar intrigued me. I studied the eight parts of speech and their functions in a sentence. I challenged myself to attempt to spell difficult words, I even participated in the Spelling Bee in elementary school. It pains me to this day that the word I missed was smothered, out of all the words in the English language. Yes, I was the person or nerd, to inform people when they would misspell words or make grammatical errors in their text messages or Facebook posts. All throughout high school, I volunteered to read with elementary children and helped them improve their reading skills. I'm very passionate about books and the endless possibilities they present. In my lessons, we will discover books that interest you, but that we can also discuss on a deep level, dive into a creative writing space, and learn the functions of the English language in a memorable and enjoyable way. I look forward to walking alongside you as we escape to different worlds in the pages of books, and have an enjoyable time while doing so!
