I use an evidence based approach, being guided by relevant, up to date psychological research. Whilst there is an emphasis on theoretical learning within the field of psychology, it is also important to be able to discuss and reflect on these concepts. Hence, I find that the facilitator style of teaching is particularly useful for prompting students to consider deeper facets of the subject. However, I am also happy to support students in working through exam papers and essay feedback in preparation for GCSE, Highers and university examinations.
I have an undergraduate degree in Applied Psychology from University College Cork and a postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology from Swansea University. My degrees heavily emphasised statistical analysis, and so I would comfortable in guiding and teaching about this.
Additionally, I have achieved a qualification in Enhanced Psychological Practice from NHS Education for Scotland. This qualification and role encompassed client facing therapy work in adult mental health settings. These insights will be applied directly within my teaching role also.
