My approach to teaching anything is to make it fun! I struggled a lot with certain subjects at school etc because I just felt they were boring or they didn't hold my interest. Essentially I would want my students to come to me with a song that they love, and I can learn it for you, and then teach you how to play it. That way you're not focussing on either a song you don't like or have never heard of, or just constantly trying to learn theory which can be very difficult to get to grips with in the early stages.
The best way to teach and to learn is for it to be engaging and for it to always be related to something you're actually interested in. Once the basics are down, if required or requested I can then teach you how to compose your own songs, how to sing and play guitar at the same time, different tunings - all sorts of things!
