Over my 4+ years of tutoring a range of students, I have outlined key principles and teaching styles which I have found have enabled me to consistently be an effective and supportive tutor:

Engagement: I ensure my tuition experience involves interactive teaching methods, such as asking questions, encouraging discussions, and incorporating real-life examples. I have had my fair share of boring teachers and I assure you, I know better than anyone, those lessons are no fun!

Expertise in the Curriculum/ Subject: I have developed in-depth knowledge, understanding, and proficiency in the subject area allowing me to clearly explain concepts to you (the student), walk you through how to reach an answer, as well as the correct exam techniques when approaching a question. Additionally, a thorough understanding of the curriculum ensures that both you and your parents can rely on me regarding questions on the curriculum.

Strong/ Effective Communication Skills: I pride myself on my ability to communicate clearly and effectively to convey complex ideas in a manner that is easily understandable and in line with your way of learning. This includes active listening to understand your needs and adjusting their teaching style accordingly.

Patience and Empathy: I understand that every student learns at their own pace, have their own ways of learning, and may face challenges when learning certain concepts. Patience ensures guiding students through difficulties and providing encouragement and support. Empathy allows me to relate to the student's struggles and tailor their approach to meet the student's unique needs. This is something I have developed from my own experience of both patient and impatient teachers/ tutors of my own which has allowed me to see the value of supporting my students in a patient manner.

Adaptability: A key part of my tuition experience is being adaptable and modifying my teaching methods to suit your learning styles and preferences. I will identify when a particular approach is not working and be flexible to try alternative strategies to facilitate learning. This is a skill which I have honed through teaching a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds and hence, different ways of learning.

Encouraging Critical Thinking: Instead of just providing answers, I encourages critical thinking skills. I will guide you to analyze problems, think creatively, and develop independent problem-solving abilities. This approach fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter and promotes lifelong learning.

Feedback and Assessment: Regular feedback and assessment are essential for monitoring the your progress and identifying areas for improvement. I will provide constructive feedback on assignments, quizzes, and tests, highlighting strengths and weaknesses and develop a roadmap for further development.
