My invigilator role at Penryn College could provide insight into GCSE and A-Level exam procedures, enhancing my ability to support students through the exams. I also have experience working with students with learning disabilities, I can offer support to students and work to develop strategies for the exams.

Throughout my bachelor's and my master’s degree, I specialized in animal biology and conservation biology, whilst maintaining a strong interest in genetics and microbiology. I studied modules such as wildlife disease, genetics, and microbes which could allow me to help students develop a strong understanding of biology broadly. I can also provide expert support on support on topics like ecology, conservation, and animal behaviour.

I have strong mathematical skills and a strong grasp of statistical analysis. I gained experience with coding in R Studio as I took two separate modules in the analytical program, and I managed to achieve high 1sts in both statistical modules which could be useful when assisting students with their biological mathematics skills.

My extensive experience in scientific outreach has honed my communication skills, enabling me to effectively convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Through involvement in programs like How Science Works and our University’s Bioblitz, I engaged with children, students, and the public, tailoring my communication to bridge knowledge gaps and create an inclusive learning environment. For example, I removed scientific jargon, and used models to explain key concepts like the role of wasps in the food web. Additionally, ecophysiology module equipped me to craft non-specialist articles to communicate scientific information in a succinct and accessible manner. Furthermore, working as the treasurer for the Bee Society further refined my ability to adapt biological information for young people developing an interest in biology.
