I have a PGCE from Durham University and an undergrad in History with History of Art. I have worked primarily with students with moderate and severe learning difficulties as well as students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and autism. I create a safe, patient and understanding space free of judgement.
I am experienced in learner led education and can follow the students needs and capabilities, particularly with any gaps in learning or struggles to understand difficult concepts.
I am available for online 1:1 sessions over zoom or teams, in which students can express themselves, direct their learning and have a positive learning experience with me. I believe in the power of positive reinforcement and praise and want students to be able to excel in places they struggle.
I am trained in working with students with various mental health issues and therefore I can create a safe dynamic that is not triggering and that doesn’t put any more pressure on the student.
I have worked mainly with 11-19 year olds but I am proficient and up to date with the primary National Curriculum and new research and teaching styles.
A typical lesson could include:
Going over last sessions learning (10 mins)
Introduction to this sessions topic (5 mins)
Main activity (30 mins)
Summary (15 mins)
But this will be tailored to each individual student and their specific needs and learning style.
Please feel free to get in touch if you or someone you know needs some help or inspiration with their studies.
