Learning with a tutor does not have to be daunting, as your tutor I will accommodate to any learning needs you may have to start with, its my priority to make sure as students you feel comfortable and ready to learn. You can expect me to learn about you as you learn from me! I will keep a detailed track of your progress and to help me teach you in the ways that work best for you. Depending on whether I am teaching you online or in person I will use different tools and softwares to give you the best experience. Based on what you are most comfortable with, for online I prefer to use Teams or Zoom paired with screen sharing to work through questions, concepts and ideas. It's important to me that I can see your method of working, so I expect students to share their screens with me as they work through examples. I appreciate that online learning is difficult having done that for A-levels and part of my degree, so I make use of external videos and materials to help translate concepts to you. In person you can expect me to turn up with a cavalry of stationary, example questions and paper. Side by side I will work with you using colours, cubes, drawings and sometimes even sweets to demonstrate concepts in a way that in engaging and useful!
I started off tutoring at school as a volunteer and enjoyed doing it so much I made a business of it for myself as a teenager. My experience enjoying teaching translates well into my students as well. I am proud to say that my previous students didn't dread tutoring sessions and found themselves a little upset when I quit for university. Seeing my students do well and make progress means the most to me, but by no means will I ever sacrifice being a friendly, kind and empathetic tutor to do so. Nurturing a students learning with positive experiences is what I do pride myself in.
