I structure my lessons so that exam preparation is central to them. This means working through exam questions in depth over a number of weeks in order to ensure that each aspect of the exam, and what the examiners are asking to see demonstrated, is thoroughly understood. This gives you, the learner, the best chance of developing a comprehensive knowledge of English which can be used to maximise your marks and pass the exam.
I have taught adult learners, teenagers and children. In general, my approach is the same for all of them: try to ensure a high level of engagement with the subject matter. This may involve the learner discussing the question or source and what they might mean with myself, or writing an answer which will then be checked by myself. Taking an interest and being keen to learn are two great keys which a learner can employ to really accelerate their improvement.
English literature has always been something which has given me a great deal of joy as well as intellectual stimulation. There is a freedom and creative aspect to language which can really help people to unlock their potential. I hope that through your study of it you can find such benefits.
