Hello there Future Students! My name is Rick Cannone. I am from Florida in the U.S. I like to teach interactively so we will talk back and forth on things that interest you when possible or with the choice of content that is both interesting and applicable or relevant to your life. I will also help you with your accent to help you with your conversational abilities. I have taught thousands of lessons in English in the past and look forward to helping you with your general, reading, writing, accent and conversational English ability. I love languages, cultures and history as well.

Let's start with where English came from. Did you know that modern English is actually a mixture of Germanic and Latin languages and so if you learn English it may help you learn other European languages! For instance Kindergarten is German for Kindergarden. Garage is a French word. And Status Quo is actually Latin, the ancient language of the Roman Empire and many words in French and Latin are used within English to this day all the time.

Moving onto accents there are myriad (many) English accents around the world that often confuse English learners but I will help you with them and they can be great fun. With a careful ear and attention you can often tell where a person is from around the world and even within a country similar to how accents are often different within countries that speak other languages.

Lets delve more into accents by reviewing these words pronounced in a general American and British English accent,....
