I have over 28 years experience teaching Mathematics so I like to establish the students entry point first then build on their knowledge and skills from there. Lessons should not be a lecture but should allow students to practise their skills and then see opportunities for problem solving. I can demonstrate how to set out your maths so that there is logic to your work and then you can practise accordingly.
Students should be able to see connections between different branches of mathematics for learning to be rich and meaningful. From this students can begin to see success in their studies. Practising at examination level will be important once a topic is learnt.
I have vast experience in face to face tutoring but also online since the pandemic allowed teachers to broaden their means of delivering to students and embrace the technology available. I also build good relationships with students where students can express themselves freely me and will let me know if they don’t understand the work. I try to make my lessons enjoyable and fun aswell as purposeful. Students must be able to see progress to believe in the process. Learning can be hugely rewarding and mastering a complicated subject like Mathematics can fill students with a sense of fulfilment.
I love teaching my subject and imparting that passion to my students and with my extensive experience I can see the best way to do it so that students can reach their goals and get access to their chosen career path.
