I love being able to help others to improve their mathematical knowledge!
Previously, when tutoring my approach is example based. We start lessons by reading through the relevent formulae and then start to attempt question. Often students cant do these independently to begin with, which is what I expect. This allows me the see the parts of questions the individual is finding hard, so that we can work on the students understanding. The goal is for the student to be able to answer exam style questions without any help.
My students take the lead on the topics I help them with. Usually students only spend an hour or two a week with me. So, I work with the student to plan the areas that they need the most help with so that they can be prioritised. It would not be the best use of the lesson to do the topics that they understand when we could do the areas that they need support with.
Im am used to working with students with a variety of needs so i adapt my teaching approach for each individual and the lessons are planned for their specific needs.
I am a university student, studying mathematics, so am quite flexible with when I am free and I am happy to continue lessons through the holidays.
