Hello, my name is Rebekah and I am a current student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and I study Masters of Performing Arts on Viola. I am a recent graduate from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and during my time there I have received great tuition on the viola, chamber music, orchestral experience and teaching. I have also had the experience to perform in an opera, musical and symphony orchestra with the Royal Welsh.

My Teaching Philosophy:

I am an experienced 1:1 teacher and I tailor my lessons to each individual. My main priority is to create a safe and nurturing environment, so that my students can excel and feel inspired. I feel that my passion for teaching, combined with my knowledge and personal skills (which include good communication, organisation and kindness) will help inspire a new generation of talented musicians.

I believe that anyone can have access to music lessons, no matter where they are from or what their background is.

Resources I use and general information on tuition:

For my lessons I use the ABRSM syllabus for viola and violin graded exams. For beginners, the resources I use are Suzuki , Viola and Violin Joggers by Kathy and David Blackwell and Viola and Violin books by Paul Harris. Please note that, If the individual uses different resources from the ones I currently use, I am more than happy to cater to their preferences.

My lessons can be given in 30/45/60 minute sessions. If you are unsure on how long your session should be, I am happy to advise on what would be suitable for the individual. I usually teach during the weekends, due to my busy schedule as a music student. When it is not term time, I am happy to offer lessons throughout the week.

In terms of instruments for students, please note that I cannot provide instruments, but I am happy to assist on what to look for when buying one.

My Performance Experience:

Alongside teaching I perform regularly around Wales with the Ilex String Quartet, which we specialise in wedding functions, events and concerts. I have also recorded an album for a musical in 2021, which has recently been premiered in New York and has been included in LCME Musical Theatre Hand Book. I was also a member of the Cardiff Chamber Orchestra and my role was assistant Viola principle and social media manager. I am currently a violist in Chineke! Junior Orchestra and Odyssey Festival Orchestra. Recently I have been performing in London at Fairfields hall and Cadogan Hall.
