My lessons are two hours each and are comprised of a 15 minute introduction to the lessons topic, 30 minutes of discussing the focus artist for the day whilst viewing their work and answering questions that the student has on the topic and artist. The next 45 minutes is spend with a task for the student to complete, whether it be independent research or a physical task such as creating a piece of artwork based on the skills we are learning and our focus photographer and the last 25-30 minutes will be a critical analysis of the piece of work they have completed and I set a small assignment for them to complete outside of lesson time. This assignment could range anywhere from a photographic assignment to collecting materials such as collage or images online for moodboards for projects. I only expect students to be able to complete an extra 2 hours of homework a week outside lesson time, as to not interfere with their schooling and the two hours could stand as a fun break from their usual studies. The curriculum I teach is similar to that of the curriculum i studied in primary and secondary school for art and design, but less theory based and more activity based. Thank you for reading and I hope that I can have the opportunity to teach your child about the wonderful world that art has to offer!
