I like to work on units of work which build upon a theme to cement learning for students. I like to keep my lessons fun, engaging and am always looking for creative ways to include new content, using up to date research in the teaching field as well as discussing current events in the world which we can apply our critical lens to. I work with any literature that the student may be interested and try to vary texts from Victorian literature up to modern texts, non fiction and poetry. I want my students to look forward to my lessons and to leave feeling a sense of achievement for what they have accomplished. I will use Google slides online and then share these with the student with our live annotations on to ensure they are keeping track of the work we do, and this is a great method for online tutoring. I also use workbooks when tutoring face to face so we can access prior learning with what we have done before, and work towards completion of a scheme of work so that my students understand the learning journey they have been on and are able to identify the steps they have made during our sessions. As an experienced teacher and tutor, I will always work to the students highest ability, and can adapt my approach for different SEN, SEMH and gifted and talented needs. I work to a high standard and ensure that my tutees will do the same and have pride in what they have achieved, using a lot of praise throughout.
