I ensure my lessons are well - paced, creative and contain a range of short activities alongside plenty of encouragement and positive reinforcement. I have created visual stimulus which appealed to all the senses such as an enchanted garden to generate writing from Year 6 students as SATS preparation. I have used storytelling, short film clips, quizzes, role-play, a range of questioning and prompts to ensure my lessons are varied and maintain interest. I will always take the time to get to know my students and what will interest and motivate them, then try to incorporate this into my lessons whenever possible, while still working towards the relevant objectives.
I have worked as Primary School Teacher for over ten years in Key Stage One and Two, so have a good understanding of Key Stage One and Two SATS and what is expected to achieve good results. I also have experience of teaching phonics and some understanding of early years education. In addition, I have worked with children with a range of special needs including Autism, ADHA, EBD, Selective mutism, Anxiety and have gained knowledge of different methods which benefit these children. I also have some experience of providing online learning, particularly during lockdown.
Finally, I am patient, adaptable, creative, empathetic and non-judgemental, positive and use lots of praise and rewards while tutoring/teaching students. I enjoy working with individual learners as I know that the mainstream classroom can be tricky for many pupils and having one to one support outside that environment boosts their confidence and self esteem.
