As someone who discovered yoga in my late teens whilst at university, trying to juggle my degree with various mental and emotional challenges in my personal life, I understand and empathise with what children and young people go through as they navigate through life and face its pressures and expectations. I therefore have first-hand experience with how powerful and life-changing yoga is, and feel that my destiny in life is to share my knowledge with as many children and young people as possible, encouraging them to find the same empowerment to work on their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
Over the years, I have adopted a wide range of self-help techniques and practices, which are a huge part of my classes alongside the physical asana practice. These include positive affirmations, guided meditations, visualisations, breath work, journalling and yoga philosophy. I encourage self-love, acceptance, non-attachment, positive body image, positive perspectives on challenges and memories and building a strong relationship with the self. I like to suggest exercises and reading to my students to try themselves in-between classes if they would like to.
Each individual's yoga journey is unique, so I design classes specifically around a student's personal wishes, needs and abilities, and keep open communication about what is/ isn't working for them.
Although our yoga practise is to be taken seriously, my classes are known for being fun and light-hearted. I think it is important for both myself and my students to bring their wonderful personalities to the sessions, so that we can build a relationship that will make them feel comfortable and trusting. I strongly care about my students' and absolutely love celebrating their progress and achievements.
I am and always will be young at heart, which makes me very approachable to young people, and is also one of the reasons I also teach laughter yoga, encouraging people of all ages to connect with their inner child.
