I aim to create lessons tailored to the student, whether that is catering to a particular learning style or focusing on areas of improvement. My experience teaching English as a second language in Cambodia has highlighted to me how important inclusive and interactive learning is to an individual's understanding and I strive to include many of these types of activities in lessons.
I have extensive experience teaching ballet to young children, therefore I am no stranger to breaking down ideas into their key components and tailoring the pace of my teaching to my students. No question is a 'silly' question for me and I wish to create an environment where students feel safe to voice their concerns and enjoy coming to tutoring. Having tutors myself growing up, I know how intimidating it can be having a tutor that you are intimidated by, but also know how amazing and transformative great tutors can be! I aim to be this great tutor for you by creating a safe and judgement free environment that moves at your own pace.
To give some more insight into my process, I will start by discussing why you have sought a tutor and ask you to highlight any main concerns, areas of improvement to work on or any aspects of the subject you enjoy. From there I will structure lessons that target these areas of improvement and really break them down to gain an understanding into the fundamental concepts. From there we may try past-paper questions regarding these areas to track our improvement and from there we, as a team, can assess our next steps. I aim to work with my students to achieve their goals and I am a firm believer in positive encouragement.
