Every time I tutor, I ensure it is a rewarding and productive experience for my tutee and me. Therefore, I create well-thought-out lesson plans tailored to my tutee's learning style, needs and goals. The first session will be for getting to know each other and for producing a future agenda together. Our lessons will usually start with recapping previous learning. Then, the main body will either be content or exam-focused. Whenever I present a topic, I do so methodically in small steps. My teaching would base on the relevant learning objectives of the curriculum. I pay close attention to how lively and interactive my lessons are so that my tutees remain engaged with the content. Towards the end, I have my tutee practice applying what has been taught to them and also assign homework upon request. I will also discuss with them what we should look at in the next lesson. My main teaching tool is PowerPoint. Review and practice are the cruces of my teaching, both are necessary for long-term learning. Hence, I like providing my tutees with as many questions as I can during any given time to help cement the subject knowledge into their long-term memory. If you are preparing for an exam, besides providing exam-style questions, I will also help you become more familiar with the exam format and hone your exam techniques. I know that individuals, including myself, may not always understand something the first time. If my tutee doesn't understand something, I am always willing to adapt my teaching techniques however many times until they can grasp it. I endeavour to create a friendly relationship with my tutees so they can comfortably learn with me.
