Rebecca in a nutshell
NB: I'm not sure why the 'languages' section above shows 'basic competence', no matter how many times I change & save them?! I am native English & Professional Competence (fluent) in French.

I teach French online, usually via Skype, but I can change this.

I teach all levels & ages, but my preference is Years 9 to 11 for GCSE. I really enjoy seeing the pupils improving & getting higher marks in tests at school. I know the AQA GCSE Syllabus inside out which really helps. I've also taught the Edexcel Syllabus & iGCSE. I've had no trouble getting up to speed with those.

I offer a trial lesson at a very reduced fee for 30/45 minutes for a pupil to get to know me and get an idea as to how I teach

I like to start by going through each of the tenses to see if there is anything a pupil doesn't fully understand or needs a recap on or, perhaps, part/s which haven't been fully explained in school.

We work through previous papers together which normally increases a pupil's vocab & some grammar is normally unknown.

If you're predicted a 9, I give you complex vocab, phrases & grammar which should secure that 9. If you're predicted an 8, why not work with me to try & make that 9?

Past pupils have achieved Grades 8 & 9. Those who found French challenging attained a 7.

I always ask if the pupil has anything in particular to do each week. I can help with homework if it's particularly difficult one week.

I help pupils to revise &/or focus on the aspects of French they find the hardest.

I've been told I explain thouroughly, I'm very approachable & easy to work with. I've been told I make better 'sense' of certain things taught in school.

I aim to boost all pupils' confidence. Usually, I manage to.

Rebecca formed a strong relationship with my son who was having struggles during CoVId. Her support was not just for MFL (which was excellent) but she helped with his general confidence and helped him secure a good grade in French but helped him in so many ways. All was done online. Highly recommended

Rebecca is friendly and open and got on very well with my daugher, striking up a good rapport immediately. She was very helpful at explaining things clearly. We had been particularly struggling with practising and preparing for the listening comprehension part of the GCSE French exam (even though I have a degree in French myself!) and Rebecca was able to make it all so much clearer for us so that the passages we were listening to became much easier to understand. She also gave my daughter good practice in speaking French (something which I had also tried to do but often have difficulty in actually finding things to say.) My daughter really enjoyed the sessions and didn't find them a chore at all. Rebecca's input was invaluable and it is unlikely my daughter would have done so well in her French GCSE without it. Would definitely recommend.
