I have taught in many settings: schools, colleges, universities, private workshops, online sessions & some public speaking. I am friendly and informal, with an open and relaxed teaching method, allowing students to follow their interests and passions whilst supporting their education.
Depending on the needs of the student/s, I will design lessons to have a comprehensive background, studying artists and their work; why we think the art world developed the way it has; how it may continue to change and how the student may want to be involved. We will look at materials and techniques utilised by artists and how/why they were chosen, as well as delving deeper into the concept and ideas behind the work.
I am an excellent practical teacher of technique and methods, for which I use a lot of visual aids, including live, practical demonstrations and video, and will tailor a lesson/group of lessons depending how the previous one/s went. Whilst I welcome open discussion and debate, I will keep us on track in order to fulfil the students aims and needs.
My specialisms are in Sculpture and Contemporary crafts, especially metalwork, ceramics and environmentally sound materials, and enjoy sharing my skills and knowlege with others.
