Each student is different, so I like to use different techniques for all of them. Some prefer to go straight into grammar rules, whereas others work better by seeing these rules in context, and assimilating them more passively. Some respond better to visual learning, as was the case with a client of mine with ADHD. Together we used specific colours and pictures to distinguish different French tenses and parts of speech when preparing for her GCSE. Others respond better to auditory learning. Over the course of our first few sessions, I will work out what works best for a student and will make sure to tailor the future sessions to their likes and dislikes.
