I am experienced in working with younger years tutoring after being requested by my teachers. I am highly in favour of a flexible approach which prioritises understanding before execution. I believe that for most subjects, a very solid understanding of a few key fundamentals leads to a greater ability to sift through that topic as a whole. I will also write out practice questions for the student to try before each session, and talk them through various exam style problems to ensure they understand what they are doing and will be able to replicate it as if by second nature when needed. When I would tutor students while at sixth form, I liked to teach things through analogies, and through the use of mental pictures and shapes rather than simply through writing. A visualization of a complicated topic can reveal the intricacies about it reveal it to be much simpler than at first it was thought. Throughout my education, I have become well versed in calculus, algebra, trigonometry, mechanics, and all of the standard maths topics taught in GCSE and A Level, including further maths topics such as complex numbers and hyperbolic functions. I would also be able to help students struggling with applied maths, such as those in Chemistry, like mole equations, and biology, like statistical tests and probability, punnett squares, etc. Overall, I would work to the best of my ability to ensure the student can perform to the best of theirs, as my primary goal is to see them succeed.
