The first session with the student is free of charge. One hour to get to know the students and how they feel about the subject in which they will be tutored. Furthermore, what they expect from these sessions and what grades they are aming for. We will talk about their strengths and weaknesses; which learning methods they prefer and what topics they have covered in school already. This is to ensure that I make a personalised plan to help each individual student succeed.
Then the rest of the sessions will follow a similar structure as we learn a new topic every lesson. Each session is one hour but students can book two hours sessions if they wish. Tutoring session will include: the tutor encouraging the student to reflect on previous lessons and doing some active recall activities, then moving on to teaching new topics and linking information together. We will also be doing LOTS of practice and answering exam questions throughout the session (to ensure that the student is exam ready). Students have the opportunity to ask questions at all times.
I will also be tracking the student’s progress and improvement throughout to make sure that the student is benefiting from these tutoring sessions. Parents and students can both resquest to see the progress tracking.
The lessons will be fully online via zoom or teams (if that is difficult for the student then we can discuss alternative methods). Other whiteboard softwares or applications maybe used. Lesson times will be in the evening during weekdays or in the morning/ afternoon during weekends.
DIfferent resources and recommendations will be provided to students, help with uni applications or personal statements (for competitive courses) would also be offered.
