Growing up in a working class household, I struggled to learn and explore the most suitable and efficient study methods on my own accord. Now, as a medical student, I recognise that no single study method can be used by everyone for all subjects and still use a variety of innovative study methods. I believe every person has their own unique way of learning and understanding certain concepts; no two brains react the same way to a unified stimulus. As such, I prefer interactive one-on-one teaching with Q and A's, open discussions, utilising fun external resources, and learning in a fun, lighthearted manner, rather than reciting from a textbook and memorising volumes of information. I would like to know about the student on a deeper level to understand their concerns, know about their struggles with learning, recognise their strengths and weaknesses, and build upon their academic skills.
As for my teaching qualifications, I obtained my Mandarin Chinese proficiency qualification with the highest honours (Grade A) from the GAPSK under the Peking University of China in 2016. During my last two years of secondary school, I have taught as a Teaching Assistant in after-school programmes, where I led primary school aged children in class activities, coursework completion, cultural performances, and games to boost morale. I have also tutored privately in subjects of English Writing, English Comprehension, and English Speaking.
Given my personal commitments with a medical degree, I would prefer remote lessons at a time that works for both our schedules. It would be a pleasure to transfer my interpersonal skills and experiences obtained from my education for the benefit of a greater generation.
