I have a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and am CELTA certified. I also have a Bachelor's degree in French Studies and German Studies. I have been working in EFL/ESOL teaching and e-Learning since 2011 and have experience working with students from across the world. As well as my work as a language teacher, I have also worked in teacher training, quality assurance, assessments and content creation, so I bring a wealth of expertise to every lesson I teach.
Learning a new language can be challenging, but it also opens up a world of possibilities. I believe that the best way to learn a new language is by having fun and having a positive approach, so I will work with you to create an environment which is friendly, warm and welcoming, which will make you look forward to studying. Psychology has a massive impact on our ability to learn, and we are all individuals, so successful learning journeys begin with getting the know you and what makes you tick.
Lessons will focus on a combination of your requests and your needs, with the main emphasis being on communicating. As well as teaching you the normal aspects of a language such as vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, I will teach you tips and tricks to help you deal with difficult situations and how to communicate what you want to say, even if you don't know the correct words. You and your needs will be at the centre of everything we do - maybe you hate grammar, but need to improve your grammar skills? No problem! Let's have conversations which allow us to practise grammar in a fun way, for example we could talk about your last holiday (past simple), what is important for you when you are planning a holiday (present simple), make some recommendations for other people (second conditional) and talk about your future and intentions (future forms). Or maybe you love grammar and would really like to sit down in front of a grammar book and work our way through it? That's also totally fine - I love grammar too!
A little note, I speak British English, but I always make sure to point out the American English version of vocab/grammar as well :-)
As somebody who has worked with people from all different backgrounds and from many different countries, and who has also lived, worked and studied abroad personally, I understand the crucial role that a great language tutor plays in people's lives, and I am ready to help you achieve your goals!
