I take an empathetic and non-intimidating approach to personal training. I will first work with the student to understand their goals and assess their current level of fitness through a movement assessment. This can be done online over zoom or in person in Oxford. Next, I will plan out the sessions according to their availability and how many times a week they can train. We start with bodyweight movements to build a strong foundation and then start to add dumbbells and machine weights (if they have access to these), moving up to barbells and more complex movements. Ideally students would work with me for 6-12 months so that they can build confidence in their training and understand how to train in a way that is sustainable, avoiding injury and to set them up for life. We will also talk about nutrition in terms of eating enough of the right things to provide energy for training, brain cognition and a healthy lifestyle. I do not teach restrictive eating or dieting as I believe this is detrimental to healthy body image and a healthy lifestyle.
