About me
I like to help students find their weaknesses and strengths before delving into a topic as it helps me decide what intensity I should set the lesson at. One way I would plan on going about this is starting the lesson with a question and seeing how the students tackle it either with or without prior knowledge and this allows me to see who requires most attention especially if it is a group class....
I like to help students find their weaknesses and strengths before delving into a topic as it helps me decide what intensity I should set the lesson at. One way I would plan on going about this is starting the lesson with a question and seeing how the students tackle it either with or without prior knowledge and this allows me to see who requires most attention especially if it is a group class. Being a student myself I am aware of several teaching styles that I have learnt under and this can prove very significant when it comes to tutoring as I can find what way a student learns best and adapt to their suitabilities and needs. I plan to be a very down to earth and understanding tutor being a student myself and I want my tutee to feel comfortable in showing what topics they struggle in and understand that it’s okay to make mistakes along the way so that we can work on them together and give the student the right focus and assistance they need. Back in terms of the lesson layout, I would frequently use tools like exam questions as they are the best way to prepare a student for the final exam they are approaching, no other way beats it, and on top of that I’d involve guided solutions of these questions while also adapting to the student’s learning style and incorporate other tools that may appeal to them and help them understand things further, like videos, pictures and presentations. I tend to be an oral and demonstrative tutor and I aspire to be someone a student can understand and find comfort learning under.
