My lessons will be specifically tailored to each students needs; be that focusing on content, revision strategies, or exam techniques. All of my lesson plans will be based around what the student feels will be most useful to them. We will discuss this during our first session, and I will develop a plan from there. Below are a couple of examples of areas which we may focus on.
1. Tackling the content
As previously mentioned, one of the most daunting parts of biology is the amount of content you need to know. To help pupils manage this, I will share the resources that got me top grades in my exams, including PowerPoints, flashcard questions, and notes. This will relieve some of the pressure on students who struggle to manage such a daunting subject.
2. Learning your mark scheme
At GCSE and especially A-Levels an understanding of the content will only get you so far, so spending time with students learning and understanding their boards mark schemes is imperative. This is therefore something I suggest dedicating significant amounts of time to, especially for those wanting to improve their grades.
Regarding my experience, I have worked with pupils ranging from year 2 to year 13, tutoring them in different subjects and sports. Beyond biology, I have worked with pupils on their university applications and next steps. This includes writing personal statements, preparing for admissions tests, and interview practice. Past pupils of mine have done incredibly well, and I hope you will too.
