Physics requires alot of visual skills so we use diagrams to help with questions as well as a step by step protocol for specific areas of maths such as mechanics.
We start from lower difficulty questions and build up to higher level difficulty, ensuring that the basics of the concepts are covered and that the student has a confident foundation.
The student will have a go at the questions with guidance initially, but as the tutor sees an increase in the confident of the student, the help given is then decreased as the questions also simultaneously become more difficult with the tutor still offering little pushes of help along the way.
Many of the resources when tutoring maths and physics will come from textbooks approved by exam boards specific to the ones the student will be accessing during exams, past papers and mock exams. These methods have been found to have the highest success rate with students when studying maths and physics.
We will go through exam papers and questions step by step and the student will be told how to approach certain questions and how to answer them.
This helps the me, the tutor, and the student see where their strengths and weaknesses lie. From then on we can focus on specific topics that the student may struggle with to ensure that the next time they come across similar questions in an exam paper they are successful.
