I specialise in teaching maths from KS2 to KS5. I have prepped students for SATs, and for transitioning into secondary school from primary school. I structure GCSE lessons in terms of the 3 papers that are sat across the UK, and tailor lessons to needs for additional support, and then as the exams approach focus on how to work with past papers so the exam is not as daunting. For AS/A-level, a similar structure is employed. Initial needs are discussed and these are first to be addressed, and then using these in an exam setting will be what is worked on in the last few weeks before exams. I try to make maths approachable, fun, and useful to carry on past exams and into daily life as you progress. Learning each students' learning style is crucial and tailoring lessons towards this help generate the best successes for everyone. In each lesson, if the content is new, I approach this with some theory, and using previously learnt understanding to make sense of new content. This is done with diagrams, clear visuals, but simplicity as to not feel overwhelmed by it. Practise questions are then used; worksheets, multiple choice, repetition of questions to solidify understanding. If the student is sitting an exam, the next step would then be to present exam style questions in bulk, and the range of styles of questions for each topic. The final step would be to see these questions in a past/practise exam paper setting, and work on the skills needed to answer these questions to succeed.
