I am a qualified teacher with a wide range of experience from Year 1 (5-year-olds) to A-Level (17-year-olds). English is both a passion and a specialty of mine.

My lessons are as practical and interactive as possible as I believe this is how individuals will succeed.
I will base lessons on the individual's existing knowledge and get to know how they prefer to learn and adjust my teaching accordingly.
I believe that the most important thing with English, whether learning it for an exam, or for life is that a deeper level of understanding is unlocked, not just the superficial level. This is why I encourage my students to fully immerse themselves in lessons, and to read, watch and practice English as much as possible.

For the older English Language students, I would suggest that students read magazines and newspapers and attempt to analyse them for syntax and semantics, and then in class we can look at these further as a more practical approach to the English Language. As in doing so we can analyse why certain words are used, and the effect that it causes.

In my degree and teacher training I have become an expert in grammar needed for correct English, especially for English qualifications and exams.

I have previous experience teaching in Year 6 where I prepared the children to their upcoming SATs and focused heavily on comprehension sessions. I have also worked 1 V 1 in a secondary school to support Year 10 and Year 11 with their English Literature and English Language GCSEs. I also have experience working in Year 1 with early phonics for ESL children.
