Since my lessons are extremely exam based I like to have a firm essay focus.
I will find a questions which we will verbally discuss the different arguments. I have found this is a really good way to get students actively engaged in the subject rather than the passive learning in schools where none of the information is actually critically considered.
We will then do a writing exercise. This is obviously depend with each student. It could be they write and intro, we discuss and see what could be better to secure all the marks needed, etc. I will also usually give a written/research homework assignment which I will mark in my own time and will be discussed in the next lesson.
