Pj Chen

I study Translation Studies with TESOL at the University of Hull. My thesis was Translating Humour in The Big Bang Theory for Chinese and Taiwanese Audiences. I have worked on Mandarin to English translation projects including, manuals of cutting machines, procurement forms, internal audit documents from English to traditional Chinese in the field of textile. Additionally, I have editing and subtitling experience in English to traditional Chinese on the subject of Education Research in The Remote Areas. On the other hand, I have worked on interpreting cases, such as conference/meeting, medical consulting, and escort/travel from English to Mandarin, vice versa.

I have times of experience in on-site medical service interpreting, mainly including clinical or hospital appointment, medical consulting and treatment, care consulting; furthermore, I do interpret at meetings and escort/travel at least once a day at my previous work, topics mainly including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), HR-related, and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS).

I am fond of socio-linguistic and cultural linguistic studies. Traditional Chinese and Taiwanese (Hokkien) are my mother tongues. Furthermore, I am Traditional Chinese- and Simplified Chinese-literate.
