Workings in education for over 5 years, I have had built up deep knowledge and resources in teaching. My lessons will be varied and differ in approach, combining practices and revisions daily.
The heart and soul of my lesson plan will be a focussed step-by-step walkthrough of the lesson, breaking down the lesson into individual learning activities, using a variety of activities to support the lesson objective and keep students engaged. I'll use a variety of strategies, from assigned reading and presentation to digital lessons.
Work examples given out allows my students time to process, reflect and discuss directly with me at their convenience. From my experience, letting students lead the discussions or activities will bring out each student’s knowledge and encourage them to not only share with others, but to get everybody to participate.
I work hard to make my lesson fun and dynamic. Giving students new ways to explore and use their knowledge helps solidify their learning while providing valuable experience that carries forward into other areas of their lives.
Once the lesson is over, I will briefly question or challenge the students with the related subject information. This is a great time to ask questions, gauge students’ prior knowledge and clarify misconceptions students may have before diving in.
My responsibility is to provide space for self-reflection so I can make continuous improvements and building stronger lessons in the future.
