Hi! I'm Phoebe, and I'm a first year student at university. My lessons are relaxed and low-pressure, and focused around whatever you feel you most need to work on. I aim to help you increase your confidence, but also to enjoy yourself, as I believe that is the best way to encourage you to do as well as you can. I very firmly believe in positive reinforcement, and these lessons are intended to help reduce the pressure you are under (although I do expect you to work hard!).
I've had a year of experience in mentoring GCSE students in both English Literature and Language, as well as in History and Geography. I am well-versed in the curriculum (particularly for OCR) and the expectations of exam boards, and my own recent experiences allow me a particularly fresh understanding of not only the courses themselves but also of the pressures of building towards exam season.
I also volunteered for several months in a primary school, where I spent time working with year 2 children on their reading abilities, so I am experienced in working with young children. I'm also a positive and patient person, who is quite adaptable.
Generally, I am just very passionate and enthusiastic about English, and I'm keen to pass on that love to others. I'm happy to work with all ages, and adjust to the particular needs of every student. My main priority is to give my students more confidence in themselves and their abilities, as I have first-hand experience in how demoralising it can be to struggle with a core subject in school.
Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you!
